The "Estaminets"
If Lyon had their "Bouchons", Parisians their "Bistros" the Bretons their "Café de la marine," we have their "Estaminets".
The "Estaminet" was the name commonly used to designate pub, and until the Second World War.
Although "Estaminet" is often confused with the humble dwellings houses. We had to push the door to find a pub. Sometimes it was reported to the public by a sign on behalf of the owner.
In the room, often small and stood behind the desk which was the owner. Some tables were placed in the room where the stove dominated.
In some taverns could play the traditional games of the area.
The tavern was therefore the place of sociability in excellent workers when they entertained in the evening after work or during leisure time. Men will be felt well. It was the extention of the family space.
The keepers of taverns often exercised another job, another occupation (coal merchant, blacksmith, saddler, blacksmith, mason ....). It was also frequent for the "estaminet"
There were also barbers or tailors who worked in the consumption room. The man practiced his profession and his wife was behind the desk.
