“The restoration of the church Saint Vaast”
The church leersoise of Saint-Vaast who has just completed his restoration was this year one of the sites visited at the time of the days of the Inheritance of the 15 and September 16, 2007.
For better to understanding of this work, the members of Leers Historique prepared an exposure of more than 100 photographs, on varied topics: cracks, outdatedness, the restoration, the arrow and the cock… A model of the church on the scale 2/100e, realized by Robert Deblieck, was also exposed under the porch of the church.

"Leers of Marie Thérèse of Austria"
Marie Thérèse of Austria was empress of Austria in 1740, in this time the totality of Leers belongs to the kingdom of France.
Within the context of the treaty of the limits of Louis XV and Marie Thérèse of Austria a border which cuts out the commune is imposed.
This division is ratified in 1820 by the treaty of Courtrai.
So, 2/5th of the initial territory (940 ha) is located today in Belgium under the name of Leers-North.
Within the context of this patrimony day we visited:
- The farm of Motterie
- The farm of la Becque
